Probably one of the best seafood restaurants in town and most certainly the best in Vila Olímpica, La Barca del Salamanca is never ever empty. Despite its truly impressive size – two patios and a gigantic dining room can accommodate approximately 600 guests – every day at lunch time a long queue stretches along one of the patios. All these people know what you would know once you spent an evening or an afternoon there: the fish served is the freshest, the service is most excellent, the prices most appropriate. As a rule, waiters of La Barca del Salamanca are remarkably welcoming, attentive and chatty, most speak good English. As far as the pricing goes, for €35 you can order grilled seabass for two (!), and your waiter would remove fishbones from your order right before your eyes and serve the fish with delicious braised vegetables. You may order a dessert after or may decline it as if winsomely: regardless of your decision you will be served a bottle of alcoholic or non-alcoholic digestive and a plate of soft sweet biscuits dusted with sugar. If the digestive you are about to drink is coffee liquor, rest assured: your waiter has taken a liking to you!
