Carrer de Casanova 96, Eixample
Pub Fiction is a small Italian restaurant that doubles as a bar at night (or rather a bar that doubles as a restaurant during the day). It is hidden on a mostly residential street in Eixample, which means that it has to compete with at least half a dozen similar small establishments within a minute's walk away. Pub Fiction (yes, the logo above the entrance has cartoon versions of John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson on it) is tiny: with several tables in front, a small bar and slightly cozier seating in the back, the place can fit no more than 29 people at a time. So what exactly makes it worth your while? For one, they have great drinking specials every night, the most impressive one being the Wednesday offer of three mojitos for 10€ (normal-sized glasses, good cocktail version). Also, the bartender is friendlier than your average local bar owner, and makes you feel welcome regardless of your language skills. Plus, the playlist is impressively not mainstream: you will mainly hear British new wave, some post punk and some classic hits, all on the comfortable volume that allows for normal conversations, not just back and forth shouting.
